What a wonderful first week we've had together in the Middle School! The nervous energy felt on the first day by our students has quickly given way to lots of smiles, laughter and new friendships. As is always the case on the first week of school, there are lots of school routines to get used to and information to learn. In my blog post this week, I'd like to highlight some of these for you...
School Lunches- This year, we will continue offer students school lunches using a "pay as you go" system. However, the canteen operators have asked us to encourage our families to consider pre-ordering meals using the same process as the elementary school. Pre-ordering helps the canteen more efficiently plan for middle school meals and eliminates food wastage. Please consider the pre-ordering option for your child if they do buy lunch at school. Pre-order forms and menus were passed to students in homerooms this week. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask Victoria in the canteen.
IT Responsible Use Agreements- Each year we spend significant time in classes discussing digital citizenship and proper use of IT. This conversation culminated with asking our students to sign a pledge affirming their commitment to good digital citizenship. Please take a moment to review this agreement with your child and talk to them about making responsible choices.
School Uniforms- Our new school uniforms look great! Please make sure your child is wearing the appropriate ISS Middle School uniform to school each day. As a reminder, PE uniforms are only to be worn during PE class or after school ECA's. In class, all students should wear the new ISS Middle School uniform (with the collared shirt).
ECA's- During Monday's assembly next week, Ms. Hallo ([email protected]) will be discussing ECA choices with our students. Once again, we have a super program lined up with many choices for each child. An informational email and sign up link was sent to all families this week. Please discuss make sure your child signs up for an ECA this term. Middle School ECA's will begin on the week of August 24th.
UN Day- This year, UN Day will be celebrated using a different, and we hope improved format. Please watch this space for details!
