As we move further into the school year, the demands on students' time will naturally grow. Homework, upcoming assessments, ECA's, and remembering what needs to be put into backpacks going to and from school are just some of the many things students have to plan for on a daily basis. At school we have worked to provide support to students during homeroom, class and pastoral lessons to help keep themselves organised.
At home, please make sure to take time to check your child's progress on ManageBac and in their homework diaries. Generally, middle school students should have between 40-75 minutes of homework each night, plus reading. If your child is regularly reporting either huge amounts or very little homework to you at home, this may be a sign that they need help getting organised.
Please also take a moment to speak with your child about overstuffed backpacks. For the sake of each child's physical health, we discourage them from carrying all their academic materials in their backpacks as they move around campus.
All students have lockers and can leave many class materials at school instead of carrying them to and from home every day. Don't hesitate to contact us at school if we can further support building your child's organisational skills.
