You may have noticed my absence around campus over the past week. As a school accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), we participate in a rigorous self evaluation and improvement process which takes place over the course of 10 years. Right now, ISS is preparing for its 5 year report which is a "check-up" of our progress towards goals and other areas we have targeted for improvement. Our recent community-wide strategic planning exercise is an important part of how we meet the standards set by CIS.
As a member school, some of our staff are invited to participate on accreditation teams to measure the success of other schools against their own goals and the standards set by CIS. Over the last week, I visited a school in China and served as the co-chair of a CIS Visiting Team for just such a visit. These visits are always very powerful learning experiences for me and I always come away with a few really good ideas from other schools. They also validate the excellent work we are already doing here together in the ISS Community.
